Ritual Plants
Traditionally harvested ritual plants gathered in The Gambia through direct relationship, seasonal knowledge, and respect for the land.
Each plant is grown, tended, and harvested by hand and collected only when the season, plant, and harvest cycle allow. Nothing is taken in excess, and no harvest is made without consideration for the health and continuation of the plant itself.
Some are gathered once a year. Others only during specific seasons. When a harvest is gone, it may not return until the next natural cycle.
Used in homes, ritual work, spiritual bathing, offerings, and traditional practices, these plants continue a relationship with the land that has been carried forward across generations.
